Why do we love books?? We can escape and learn. We can satisfy our curiosity! We can learn about what matters to us!

I have read hundreds of books over the last 40 years when I started to become interested in gardening and healthy eating. I hated to read when I was a kid and did not start reading much until I was 15 or 16. I don’t know how I made it through school! I would read the first paragraph or page in a book and if it did not grab me I would put the book down and not pick it up again!!  I did love being outside and rode my bike a lot. So finally when I did start liking to read I could hardly put books down!  I love books. Even when I was poor I found a way to spend money on books!!

I will give a short review of each book I add to this page.  I welcome all comments on our forum/community! I will put many books on this page related to farming, food and medicine. Eventually when there are a lot of books we will put them in categories so they will be easy to find.

This book was recommended by a patient’s husband who we had just diagnosed with Alzheimer’s at the beginning of the summer in 2018.  It was a very good book for me to read and I have used it since in helping my patients determine their risk.

It has also added to teaching in my classes. I feel it may have really changed my trajectory as I move forward in medicine. I am now very interested in improving the diet in nursing homes, hospitals and other institutions.
