Rural Medical Scholars coming again!!

Next month in November the Rural Medical Scholars will be coming again for a visit. I enjoy their visits so much! It is fun to show them how great rural medicine can be and bring them to my farm. They all seem to get a kick out of how we do things here and are often quite surprised. I also try hard to teach them to stay out of debt as best they can so they can pay off what they owe quickly and have freedom to choose how they will practice and live more easily. Debt is definitely a burden and reduces our freedom.

This group is a group of students who have been accepted to medical school and will start next summer. They have lived in rural areas and the hope is that they go back and practice medicine in a rural area. I was one beginning the year 1999. That is how I ended up here. They took a bet on me and won! I came to Collinsville. It is harder for young doctors to come to rural areas with families sometimes because these families often want what a city has to offer. But I am trying to show them some great things rural areas have to offer!!

I always forget to take pictures but I will work hard to try this time. They will come the middle of November. I will post them here!!
